While the perseverance of many content curators remains undervalued, YouTube took the initiative to recognize them through what is known as the YouTube Creator Awards, also known as YouTube Play Buttons.
Two of these awards were first introduced in VidCon 2012, and the rest came later in VidCon 2015.
What are these Play Buttons?
These are awards given by YouTube, to appreciate video creating channels for reaching a specified milestone.

Predominantly, the YouTube creator awards are of three kinds:

YouTube has a website specifically to redeem the YouTube Play buttons. If a YouTuber's channel is approved, according to the criteria, they receive a redemption code through a notification, after which they are supposed to apply on the portal. Following this, the YouTube will process your shipping.
What does YouTube consider while awarding the Play button?
The awards are based on a specific subscriber count.
YouTube thoroughly reviews every channel before giving an award to check for any glitches on its community guidelines or for any fake increase in subscribers.
Hence it becomes mandatory for every awardee to play by the rules and maintain a good standing. YouTube holds the sole discretion towards giving or refusing these awards to any channel.
